So I don’t know if you’ve guys heard…
But the Giants just swept the Rox and are now tied for first place in the Wild Card!!!!!! Lincecum, Zito, and Cain!!!!!
Okay I think someone up there doesn’t want Cain to get his 13th, but Giants still beat the Rockies despite being down 5-2 at one point! Edgar Rentaria smoked one out of the yard for a Grand salami!!!! Matt Cain wasn’t that terrible, but he wasn’t as sharp as his last outings. I along with the other Giants fans can smelll October. And you can argue all you want about the Rox being the one who’ll take the Wild Card, but Giants aren’t going to fade, they’ll be fighting till the last weekend in San Diego.
Day off tomorrow and it’s a good timing. Giants don’t need a 5th starter after Sanchez, Lincecum will have his 4 days rest and be good to go on the second game of the series against the Phillies. Sanchez won when the Phillies were in town, Lincecum won when the Phillies were in town, and Zito won when the Phillies were in town. And the only thing that’ll maybe stop these 3 starters is that it’s not at home. If the Giants win the series in Philadelphia then everybody should really fear these Giants even more. Unfortunately though, Rox are going to NYC to play the depleted Mets and it looks like they might get a lot of wins there. But David Wright might be back soon! Fingers crossed.
Good job Giants!!!!!! Let’s continue to win some good baseball!
xoxoxo
Major League leading shutouts!
17 SHO for the Giants this year. That’s one way we can tell that they have the best pitching in the league. Tim Lincecum is finally back to his old self. I would have been so much happier if he went the distance and got that 5th complete game, but with 127 pitches his stellar night was done. 127 pitches! Wow that guy is unbelieveable. And Brian Wilson got the job done. Good job Giants! Two game back the Rockies. If they sweep them at home, they’d be tied up again.
Zito tomorrow, and he has been great this second half. But he’s matched up with another great pitcher, so this will probably be another low scoring game.
Cain Sunday. Maybe Lincecum broke that winless games they’ve been playing, Lincecum has win #13, now it’s Cain’s turn.
Giants and their much needed offense
Everyone knows that the Giants have a great pitching staff (but have thier off days occasionally, like today). Whoever begs to differ, just look at their stats.
But I, like everyone else, thinks that the G-men’s offense is the worst. Sure these past few days they’ve had plenty of hits, but when you can’t manufacture any runs, it doesn’t matter if you have 1 or 20!
So let’s refresh this series shall we:
Game 1 of Giants vs. Reds- I was afraid Lincecum wouldn’t get enough runs to support him, but he did! Thank goodness, because Lincecum that day decides to not be himself and gives up 5ER in 6 innings! But the Giant’s awakened offense picked him up, the least they could do after not getting him the win against the Dodgers.
Game 2- Zito pitches a gem, a 2 hitter! Would have liked him to go deeper into that game, but you know how it goes, Zito on the mound and no offense shows up…that is until he leaves the game, even though they just put up 1 run for him. Zito and the Giants are happy with the win, but I for one am tired of looking at Zito’s ugly record. I hope next time they give him some runs. But good job to the bullpen.
Game 3- Cain was yet again amazing, but yet again the runs did not come in. 1 run, scoring by a wild pitch does not count for me. Realllly?!?! And they had about 10 hits or so today. Man Giants’ starting pitchers cannot catch a break. Cain has been stuck w/ win #12 for 5 straight games, he along with Lincecum should have well above 14 wins right now if the Giants had some kind of run support system. Is he and Lincecum really going to be stuck with 12 wins for the rest of the season? Not only are their records at stake, but Timmy and Matty’s chances of the Cy Young will be stolen- by either Carpenter & Wainwright with the Machine and the Cards behind them, or Josh Johnson behind the flippen red-hot Marlins, or even Dan Haren, though he’s been cold lately. This is probably the least in their worries, but still.
The Rox won’t wait up (winning their game today and moving up 2 games), Dodgers might soon start picking it up again, and the rest of the Wild Card contenders will most likely kick the Giants to the curb with nothing but the “if only..” (ex:If only we had an offense) dream.
Come on Giants!!! You know your fans are already proud of you for keeping up this far, but it’d make us prouder and happier if you guys make it to the playoffs!!!!!!!
5-4 Giants win in the 10th
Would have been happier w/ Matt Cain as the winner. 4 games now he’s been stuck with win number 12. But Brian Wilson after the 8th inning was amazing. As a closer, nobody would think they’d last 2 2/3 innings but he did and what a good job.
When the Mets aren’t playing the Giants I actually root for them because I think they have many great players, unfortunately most of them are in the DL. I’m just hoping like everyone else that David Wright is alright, and for the Mets sake, doesn’t go on the DL.
And for the record, for the people who still thinks Matt Cain did this on purpose, trust me he didnt. Wright was behind the count w/ a runner on 1st. That’s the last thing he wants to do. And I understand the baseball tradition that if your teammate gets hit, you gotta strike back. And Santana did that by trying to hit Sandoval, but he got away from it god knows how. And then he hits a homerun. Good job Sandoval. But I don’t understand why you have to hit another player after attempting to hit Sandoval. Really? Just because he got out of the way doesn’t mean it’s necessary to hit another one, Molina. But if that helped Molina hit that homerun in the 10th, then hats off to you Santana.
Good job G-men today for fighting to get some runs.
Hope Wright is okay though!
If Zito..
becomes as consistent like his last 3 starts and hold off the opponent’s offense like he did w/ the Phillies, I think they (below) would be a great 1-2-3 punch in the pitching rotation.
I mean there’s no going around it, Lincecum-Cain is one of the best, if not the best, right now, and Zito is playing well right now too.

And then there’s J Sanchez who won his first road game since last year. I think he is improving and becoming more consistent, which is what the Giants need if they wanna see postseason. Then there’s the 5th spot, which currently Joe Martinez is filling in, and hopefully he stays w/in the pack and have quality starts and then hopefully Randy Johnson gets better and help the team out in September and hopefully even October.
Go Giants!
Loss #3
Instead of win #13, Matt Cain got stuck w/ the loss. I want to put the blame on the offense, but they did give him 3 runs which if he was playing the Pirates again, it would be more than enough. But he gave up 2 home runs, which is very unlike him. But if they did have a clutch hit during that one inning w/ the bases loaded then maybe they could have won. Man this loss not only hurts Cain, but the whole team. Not a good way to starting a 3 road game. Hopefully J Sanchez can hold the Astros and the offense can get some runs in. Then Bochy will unveil the starter for the finale. My money is on Joe Martinez. I just hope he doesn’t get hit by a liner again.
Matty’s ERA jumped to 2.25 still good though. It’s so unlikely for Cain to lose that it punches you in the face by surprise when he does. Okay maybe I’m being dramatic, but it’s a tough loss, I just imagined him getting beat by a team that’s not the Astros.
Freddy Sanchez
had a great first day with the Giants yesterday. That is why the Giants got him. He may not always hit one out of the park like the rest of the Giants, but he can drive in runs when the Giants really need it. Yeah San Francisco may not have the homerun hitters like Pujols or Manny, but the Giants can always find away to win ballgames, and their pitching staff almost always allows them to be able to catch up or just score a few runs to win it. A win for the Giants may not be like a win for like the Cardinals w/ home runs hit in every or every other games for them, but as long as they win I’m happy. So people need to stop bickering about how they don’t hit a lot of homeruns, because they have better winning% than most of those teams who have more homeruns than they do. A win is a win for the Giants, but it won’t hurt if they hit some homeruns once in a while.
Matt Cain tonight! Trying to become the first 13 game winner in the National League. I can see a Cy Young Award for Cain this year, that is if Lincecum allows it.
Go Giants!
2 Aces for the Giants…
Seems like Cain is overshadowed by Tim Lincecum, I mean why not, he is the reigning Cy Young winner. But Cain has a tad bit better numbers than Lincecum, except in Ks, whip, & some others. But can you blame someone who wants to see Lincecum win it back to back, than Cain getting his first? I want them both to do great, but when Cain is on the mound I am ashamed to say that I don’t want him to surpass what Lincecum does 2 days before, well unless Lincecum have one of those rare losses.
